Extreme Fire Weather Concerns; Severe Thunderstorms from the Plains to Mississippi Valley

Extremely critical fire weather concerns for portions of the southern High Plans as strong wind and very dry conditions could result in rapid spread of any fires. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are expected once again across areas of the Central and Southern Plains, then spreading in the Mississippi Valley regions on Monday. We are not currently seeking any college students to volunteer at our office at this time.


The goal of our Student Volunteer Program is to allow the volunteer to gain practical experience and beneficial knowledge in the operations of a National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office.  Student volunteers with the NWS office in Boulder will learn how to forecast in complex terrain, how to use the latest tools and technology in the forecast, and how to best communicate the forecast to key decision makers from across Colorado.
