A low pressure system is set to strengthen as it travels over the northern plains Tuesday night, and could result in areas of severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds by early Tuesday evening and on through the overnight hours. An isolated tornado threat also exists.
Currently, if thunderstorms develop, they are timed to move into central and north central South Dakota Tuesday late afternoon/early evening and spread east to the border with Minnesota early Wednesday morning.
