Another Round of Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow in California; Snow in the Great Lakes and Northeast

Another round of heavy rainfall will renew concerns for additional flash flooding and landslides in southern California around burn scars and coastal mountain ranges. A low pressure system is bringing enhanced snowfall downwind from the lower Great Lakes into the Northeast mountain ranges. A low pressure system is set to strengthen as it travels over the northern plains Tuesday night, and could result in areas of severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds by early Tuesday evening and on through the overnight hours. An isolated tornado threat also exists.

Currently, if thunderstorms develop, they are timed to move into central and north central South Dakota Tuesday late afternoon/early evening and spread east to the border with Minnesota early Wednesday morning.
