New River Forecast Services for the Ohio River at Henderson, KY starting December 1, 2022

SUBJECT: New Forecast Service for:
         Ohio River at Henderson in Henderson County, Kentucky

Beginning Thursday, December 1, 2022, NOAA`s National Weather
Service /NWS/ Office in Paducah, KY will begin the provision of new
river forecast services for one location in its service area:

The Ohio River at Henderson

The NWS Location Identifier /NWSLI/ for this location is HENK2

The new service at this location is a direct result of active
coordination over the past several years with Henderson County
Emergency Management as well as the City of Henderson and Henderson
County. The new forecast service will provide flooding forecasts for
areas upstream of Henderson near the John James Audubon State Park
to downstream near Diamond Island.

On December 1, 2022, NWS Paducah will begin to issue hydrologic
products as necessary that may include specific river forecasts. The
hydrologic products are listed in the following table:

The NWS defines Flood Stage as the river level at which impacts to
life and/or property begin.

At Henderson, the Flood Stage will be 36 feet. The Moderate flood
level has been set at 43 feet, with Major flooding beginning at 44
feet.  Forecasts will be issued when water levels are expected to
exceed 31 feet, and Flood Warnings will be issued when water levels
are expected to reach or exceed the Flood Stage level of 36 feet.
