...River Forecasts for the new Olmsted Locks and Dam...

Over the last year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has
decommissioned both Brookport Locks and Dam and Grand Chain Locks and
Dam, located on the Ohio River. The new Olmsted Locks and Dam was
officially opened in late August 2018. This project will reduce
barge/tow delays and improve navigation along the lower Ohio River.
This location will take the place of the two decommissioned sites.
River information for both the headwater/pool and the tailwater can
be found on the WFO Paducah Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service
(AHPS) page located at:
https://water.weather.gov/ahps/index.php?wfo=pah

Flood-only forecasts will be issued for the Olmsted headwater or
pool by the Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center. Much model
calibration has taken place over the last year to ensure the most
accurate forecasts are issued for this location. Flood-only forecasts
will be issued beginning January 8, 2020. Forecasts will be issued
when the pool stage reaches or is forecast to reach 34 feet. The
Flood Stage for Olmsted will be 36 feet. WFO Paducah will be
responsible for issuing Flood Warnings and Statements as necessary.
