Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. …Severe Weather Preparedness Campaigns for our Region…

 

As we approach the spring storm season, there is usually an increase in frequency of severe thunderstorms, including

tornadoes, large hail, flash flooding and damaging thunderstorm winds.

 

In preparation for the spring storm season, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, in conjunction with its partners, will

be holding severe weather safety campaigns for each state served by the NWS Paducah Weather Forecast Office.

 

Below is a list of the dates/times for each state`s campaign and tornado drill:

 

Illinois - March 1-7; No formal Tornado Drill, but part of a weekly test  ("RWT" EAS Code) Tue. March 3 at approx. 10 AM CST

Kentucky - March 1-7; Tornado Drill ("TOR" EAS Code) Wed. March 4 at approx. 9:07 AM CST

Missouri - March 2-6; Tornado Drill ("TOR" EAS Code) Tue. March 3 at approx. 10 AM CST

Indiana - March 15-21; Tornado Drill ("TOR" EAS Code) Wed. March 18 at approx. 9:15 AM CDT
