Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. According to Mrs. Linda Norton, the townspeople of Fremont were very discouraged with all the tourists coming into town to see the damage. The people were afraid someone was going to get hurt as well. So, they put a rope up in front of the post office, which crossed over the street. L.D. Smith, the town's postmaster, put up a barrel with a sign: Donate to help build Fremont. He did this as a joke but after all was said and done, several thousand dollars were raised for the town. Much of this money came from other Fremonts across the country, as you will read below. When it came time to decide what to do with money, the townspeople got together and decided to use the money to pave the streets and put up street lights.
