Frigid Airmass to Bring Significantly Colder Temperatures; Snow Continues Downwind of the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will bring significantly colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected in the Southeast by Tuesday morning. Widespread hazardous marine conditions will develop this afternoon and continue through tomorrow afternoon. Widespread southerly winds with gale force to storm force gusts are expected with rough to very rough seas for the inner waters and outer waters.
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 3 PM Thursday to 9 PM Friday for all Pacific Coast beaches. An increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents is to be expected with breaking waves of 13 to 18 feet with the highest waves up to 23 feet in favored locations. Stay off of waterside infrastructure and never turn your back on the ocean!
