Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. NWS Memphis Weather-Ready Classes

 

Each spring and fall the National Weather Service in Memphis conducts weather safety and preparedness training sessions. The class is free and open to everyone and typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Registration is only required for the virtual classes. The following topics will be covered in the class:

  • Weather Safety and Preparedness
  • Thunderstorms & Severe Weather Information
  • Other Common Weather Hazards in the Mid-South
  • Weather Monitoring and Resources
