Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. The National Weather Service is testing a new River Observation and Forecast Website!

For more than two decades, the National Weather Service (NWS) has delivered river observations and forecast products and services via the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS). This legacy system needed to be modernized to support newer innovation with technology supported by scalable infrastructure that uses services-driven architecture. Currently scheduled for Spring 2024, the NWS will replace AHPS with a new website, the National Water Prediction Service (NWPS). Existing AHPS content and features will be preserved and expanded within NWPS.

In order to ensure NWPS delivers capabilities that meet customer and public needs, the NWS will host a public testing period until December 15th, 2023. The goal of this testing phase is to collect feedback from you so that the feedback can be used to ensure NWPS delivers capabilities that meet your needs.
