Back-to-Back Pacific Storms to Impact the West Coast; Heavy Snow in the Central Appalachians

Back-to-back powerful Pacific storm systems to impact the Pacific Northwest and northern California through the end of this week with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow. IN DECEMBER...WHILE PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR NORTH PLATTE
AND VALENTINE...

FOR NORTH PLATTE, THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH 
OF DECEMBER WAS 31.2 DEGREES WHICH WAS 5.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 
25.4 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH
OF DECEMBER WAS 47.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 8.4 DEGREES ABOVE 
THE NORMAL OF 39.1 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR 
DECEMBER WAS 14.9 DEGREES WHICH WAS 3.3 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 
11.6 DEGREES. ONE DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS TIED DURING THE 
MONTH OF DECEMBER FOR NORTH PLATTE. ON THE 8TH, THE HIGH IN NORTH PLATTE
REACHED 68 DEGREES, TYING THE RECORD WHICH WAS ALSO SET IN 1970.

FOR VALENTINE, THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF 
DECEMBER WAS 32.3 DEGREES WHICH WAS 8.5 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 
23.8 DEGREES. DECEMBER 2020 WILL GO DOWN AS THE 5TH WARMEST DECEMBER
ON RECORD FOR VALENTINE. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR 
DECEMBER WAS 46.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 9.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL 
OF 36.6 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH 
WAS 18.1 DEGREES WHICH WAS 7.1 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 
11.0 DEGREES. ONE DAILY RECORD TEMPERATURE WAS SET DURING THE MONTH
OF DECEMBER IN VALENTINE. ON THE 9TH, THE HIGH IN VALENTINE WAS 71
DEGREES. THIS BROKE THE RECORD OF 69 DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 2006. 

AT LEE BIRD FIELD IN NORTH PLATTE, PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER TOTALED 
0.72 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.31 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.41 INCHES. 
NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
FOR NORTH PLATTE. A TOTAL OF 7.4 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AT LEE BIRD
FIELD IN DECEMBER. THIS WAS 2.8 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 4.6 INCHES.
NO DAILY SNOWFALL RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER FOR 
NORTH PLATTE.  

AT MILLER FIELD IN VALENTINE, PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER TOTALED 0.43 
INCHES WHICH WAS 0.06 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.37 INCHES. NO DAILY
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER FOR VALENTINE.
A TOTAL OF 3.7 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AT MILLER FIELD IN DECEMBER. THIS WAS
1.4 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 5.1 INCHES. NO DAILY SNOWFALL RECORDS 
WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER FOR VALENTINE.
