Back-to-back powerful Pacific storm systems to impact the Pacific Northwest and northern California through the end of this week with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow. No Specialized Experience is Needed - Everyone is Welcome!!

 

Cherry County Storm Spotter Training:
Monday, June 13, 2022 at 6 PM CDT - Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center - 214 US-20, Valentine, Nebraska

 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Office in North Platte is excited to announce one additional storm spotter training session for the 2022 spotter season.  This FREE training session is being offered in collaboration with our friends at the Niobrara National Scenic River (National Park Service) and Cherry County Emergency Management.   All interested spotters are welcome to attend.  Topics that will  be covered are:

  • Introductions from the National Park Service and the National Weather Service
  • 2021 Severe Weather Season in Review
  • Basics of Thunderstorm and Tornado Development
  • Thunderstorm Modes and Hazards
  • Identifying Key Thunderstorm Features
  • How and What to Report
