Back-to-Back Pacific Storms to Impact the West Coast; Heavy Snow in the Central Appalachians

Back-to-back powerful Pacific storm systems to impact the Pacific Northwest and northern California through the end of this week with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow. IN AUGUST FOR NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE...

FOR NORTH PLATTE, THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH 
OF AUGUST WAS 76.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 3.7 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 
73.0 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF 
AUGUST WAS 92.9 DEGREES WHICH WAS 5.7 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 87.2 
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST WAS 60.5 DEGREES 
WHICH WAS 1.7 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 58.8 DEGREES. ONE DAILY RECORD 
TEMPERATURE WAS SET DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST. ON THE 5TH, THE LOW IN 
NORTH PLATTE WAS 74 DEGREES. THIS BROKE THE RECORD HIGH MINIMUM 
TEMPERATURE FOR THAT DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 73 DEGREES SET IN 
1960 AND 1934. 

FOR VALENTINE, THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF 
AUGUST WAS 75.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 73.6 
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST WAS 90.3 
DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 88.4 DEGREES. THE 
AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 60.6 DEGREES WHICH 
WAS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 58.7 DEGREES. ONE DAILY RECORD 
HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS SET DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST IN VALENTINE. ON 
THE 2ND, THE HIGH WAS 109 DEGREES AT VALENTINE. THIS BROKE THE 
RECORD OF 108 DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1938. THE 109 DEGREE READING
WAS ALSO THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED IN AUGUST FOR VALENTINE.   

AT LEE BIRD FIELD IN NORTH PLATTE, PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST TOTALED 
0.96 INCHES WHICH WAS 1.60 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 2.56 INCHES.
NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST FOR 
NORTH PLATTE.  

AT MILLER FIELD IN VALENTINE, PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST TOTALED 1.78 
INCHES WHICH WAS 0.26 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 2.04 INCHES. NO 
DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST FOR 
VALENTINE.
