Potential Pattern Change Ahead
We will see temperatures warm into the 90s on Wednesday to mid-90s to low-100s on Thursday across the Panhandles. This anomalous heat could cause heat-related impacts to those susceptible to being affected by heat. Heat Risk takes into accounts such as high and low temperatures, humidity, seasonal acclimation, and longevity of heat. Given the anomalous and record breaking heat is occurring early in Spring, Heat Risk is highlighting an area of moderate (category 2/4) Heat Risk for much of the Texas Panhandle.

A cold front is expected to move in to the Panhandles Thursday night, bringing in cooler temperatures and breezy to windy conditions. However, there is a very low chance, around 10%, that the cold front could come in during the day Thursday and cause highs to be up to 20 degrees cooler than currently forecast. Stay tuned.
