Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding Concerns in California; Heavy Snow in the Sierra

An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to lower elevations of California this week, and heavy snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. Flash flooding, some of which may be locally considerable, will be a concern on the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains through Tuesday. The Climate Prediction Center has released it's Winter Outlook for the 2020-21 season.

For central Indiana, there are equal chances for below normal, normal, and above normal temperatures for the winter season.

For central Indiana, odds favor above normal precipitation for the winter season. However, above normal precipitation does not necessarily mean above normal snowfall! At the moment, it appears that the above normal precipitation may not begin until the second half of winter. This means that drought conditions may persist into early January.
