Overview
Arctic air moved into central Indiana on November 11 and 12. As the air moved in, snow fell during the day on the 11th and early on the 12th. The snow helped temperatures get even colder for the 12th.Snow/Ice
Rain gradually changed to snow during the daytime of November 11, and the snow continued into the evening. Snowfall amounts were generally in the 2 to 4 inch range. As temperatures fell during the evening of the 11th and into the 12th, water on roads froze and caused some travel slowdowns across central Indiana.
The 2.8 inches that fell at the Indianapolis International Airport on the 11th set a record for the date. The previous record was 1.2 inches last seen in 1995. The snow depth of 2 inches at the Indy Airport on the morning of the 12th set a record for snow depth on the date. The previous record was a Trace, last observed in 2013.
