Overview
Thunderstorms developed in very hot and humid air across central Indiana. These storms brought very large hail, some damaging winds, and heavy rain to the area. Repeated rounds of thunderstorms with heavy rain caused flash flooding, with some locations seeing over 7 inches of rain.Flooding
Three to over 7 inches of rain caused streams and creeks to rise out of their banks. Flooding also closed numerous roads, causing some people to be rescued from flood waters. Below are a few hydrographs that show how fast levels rose due to the heavy rain.

Environment
Temperatures rose into the 90s during the afternoon of the 18th, with dewpoints in the 70s. This created plenty of energy for thunderstorms to develop. Warm air aloft (a cap) kept thunderstorms from developing until late afternoon and early evening. Steep mid level lapse rates and some shear helped the severe storms to develop. During the overnight, thunderstorms continued to regenerate over a boundary, which led to repeated rounds of thunderstorms. During the early morning hours of June 19, a complex of storms that originated in Iowa move through, bringing more rain.
