Overview
Areas of low pressure moving along a cold front brought rain to central Indiana then a wintry mix as colder air moved in. The rain along with a soggy ground from snowmelt caused both areal and stream/river flooding across central Indiana. The wintry mix caused slick conditions on area roads..Flooding
Widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts fell during the day of February 17. The ground was already soggy from snow melt across much of the area. This combination led to areal flooding as well as stream and river flooding across central Indiana. Ice jams along some small streams in northwest sections of the area also caused flooding. Roads were closed due to flooding at many locations. Some rivers reached moderate flood stage.

Snow/Ice
A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain fell as colder air moved into the area behind a cold front. Far northwest areas saw 3 inches or more of snow, with lesser amounts south and east. Some areas southeast of the heavier snow area also had a light glaze from freezing rain.

Environment
Areas of low pressure moved along a cold front at the surface. Aloft, a strong low level jet brought in unseasonably high amounts of moisture into central Indiana. As the surface cold front passed through an area, temperatures fell 8-10 degrees in an hour or two.
