Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Overview

Snow developed across portions of central Indiana ahead of an approaching area of low pressure. This winter system led to the first January winter storm warning since 2014. Snowfall totals ranged from 4 inches to as high as 9 inches in Owen County. The 6.9"inches of snow at Indianapolis tied the snowfall record for the day.
