Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Overview

A severe weather outbreak occurred during the evening hours of April 8th. A line of severe thunderstorms moved through central Indiana intitially causing large and damaging winds. As the storm progressed, the hail threat gradually decreased with wind speeds rapidly increasing. In addition to widespread 60 to 70 mph winds, the line had several mesovortices that lead to areas of enhanced winds up to 90 mph and produced an EF-1 tornado in Mooresville, IN
