Chris Miller, our long time Warning Coordination Meteorologist, retired on August 27th after a 33 year career with the National Weather Service, all in central Illinois.

After earning his meteorology degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Chris began his NWS career at the Peoria office in 1988. He worked there until May 1995, when he was selected as one of the original 5 meteorologists for the new Weather Forecast Office in Lincoln. A few years later, when our staffing expanded to include lead forecasters, he was one of the original 5 leads selected. For the last 19 years, he has served as the Warning Coordination Meteorologist. In that role, he has worked with emergency managers, trained storm spotters, conducted numerous outreach events, served as our main "public relations" contact with the media, and filled in on the forecast desk occasionally. He also served as the acting Meteorologist-in-Charge for about the first half of this year.

Chris plans to stay in central Illinois after his retirement, so you may still bump into him from time to time.

Congratulations on your long career and enjoy retirement, Chris!
