Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. The Lincoln Doppler radar dome was removed on the evening of October 30th, in order to replace the pedestal. The pedestal is responsible for controlling the movement of the receiving antenna. With the pedestal past its end of life, it was replaced with a factory refurbishment in order to keep the radar running into the 2030s. This was the first time the radar dome was removed since the radar was originally installed in 1995.

The work was done at night because of breezy conditions that had been persisting for several days.
