Tropical Storm Imelda Forms; Another Round of Heavy Rain and Potential Flooding in the Southwest

Tropical Storm Imelda has formed near the Bahamas Sunday afternoon, and continues to bring heavy rainfall. The risk of significant wind impacts from Imelda along the Southeast coast are decreasing. The Automated Surface Observing System that serves the Coles County Airport near Mattoon (station KMTO) will be impacted by airport maintenance being conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration. During this time, only the altimeter (barometric pressure) will be available to users. The outage is expected to last through at least August 6th.
