Nor'Easter Continues to Bring Heavy Rain and Coastal Impacts; Nolo Continues to Impact Hawaii

The nor’easter will weaken tonight, easing beach conditions and coastal flooding, though locally heavy rain will continue in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England into Monday. Hurricane Nolo continues to bring strong winds and large waves to Hawaii. A multi-day rain event will return to the Four Corners region Monday and expand to the south-central U.S. by midweek. October was drier than normal across the region, with areas north of I-70 around an inch below normal and areas south of I-70 two to three inches below normal.

October Temperature Highlights:

Temperatures averaged near to slightly below normal during the first half of the month, but a cold snap and hard freeze occurred from the 17th to the 19th.
Temperatures warmed to above normal on the 21st and 22nd, with highs soring into the 80s at many sites, but it was short lived and temperatures quickly returned to near normal where they stayed for the remainder of the month.
