Overview

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms moved across central Illinois between Thursday June 24 and Saturday June 26, 2021.  This brought both severe weather and flooding to the region.  A total of 5 tornadoes were confirmed by the NWS, with no fatalities, injuries, or major structural damage reported.  Flooding proved to be more hazardous and more costly to the region.  Rainfall totals have generally ranged between 3-5 inches across central Illinois, but some locations received as much as 11 inches, most of which fell Friday evening.  Among the hardest hit areas was the Bloomington/Normal area of McLean County. There, this rainfall event will go down in the history books as one of wettest Junes since we started keeping weather records back in 1893.
