Nor'Easter Continues to Bring Heavy Rain and Coastal Impacts; Nolo Continues to Impact Hawaii

The nor’easter will weaken tonight, easing beach conditions and coastal flooding, though locally heavy rain will continue in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England into Monday. Hurricane Nolo continues to bring strong winds and large waves to Hawaii. A multi-day rain event will return to the Four Corners region Monday and expand to the south-central U.S. by midweek. Flooding Event May 4th - 8th, 2003

The heaviest rain in quite some time fell across northern Alabama in early May 2003. For many locations, it was the wettest month in a decade or more.

All the rain also caused some significant flooding along the Tennessee River and its tributaries, and flash flooding, especially in the Huntsville metropolitan area.

One automated precipitation station in Northeast Huntsville reported 0.96" of rain in just five minutes -- and over four inches in an hour!
