Frigid Airmass to Bring Significantly Colder Temperatures; Snow Continues Downwind of the Great Lakes

A frigid cold airmass will bring significantly colder weather across the eastern two thirds of the country early this week. Record low temperatures are expected in the Southeast by Tuesday morning. WFO Huntsville Awarded Department of Commerce Bronze Medal

The National Weather Service forecast offices in Huntsville and Birmingham recently received the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal for "providing outstanding warnings and advisories which resulted in saving of lives during the historic Alabama floods in May 2003." WFO Huntsville Meteorologist-In-Charge John Gordon and Senior Forecaster William Schaub were Huntsville's representatives to the awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, December 2.
