EXTENDED OUTAGE OF JOANNA BALD NOAA WEATHER RADIO TRANSMITTER CONTINUES

The NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards transmitter broadcasting from Joanna Bald Mountain and serving the western mountains of North Carolina remains off the air. 

Replacement parts are on order and repairs are expected to be made by the end of November, which will bring the transmitter back into service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our listeners.

Listeners in southwestern North Carolina are encouraged to tune to the following alternate transmitters depending on their county:

  • Macon County:  Clayton on 162.450 MHz
  • Graham, Swain, Jackson Counties:  Clayton on 162.450 MHz or Mt. Pisgah on 162.400 MHz
  • Clay County:  Brasstown Bald on 162.500 MHz
  • Cherokee County:  Blue Ridge on 162.475 MHz
