Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. RAINFALL THROUGH 10 AM CDT MONDAY AUGUST 2ND AT JOE FOSS FIELD IN
SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA HAS TOTALED 1.55 INCHES. THIS BRINGS THE
TOTAL RAINFALL SINCE JUNE 1 TO 17.93 INCHES. FOR THE SUMMER MONTHS
OF JUNE THROUGH AUGUST THIS IS THE WETTEST ON RECORD. THE PREVIOUS
WETTEST SUMMER OCCURRED IN 1993 WHEN A TOTAL OF 17.39 INCHES FELL.
WITH NEARLY A WHOLE MONTH LEFT...WE WILL LIKELY BE ADDING ON TO THIS
TOTAL.
