A late season snow occurred across much of the region on Tuesday as low pressure made its way into the Central Plains. During the morning hours, a narrow band of moderate to heavy snow developed from the Lake Andes area northeast to near Arlington South Dakota. Snowfall amounts of 4 to 10 inches piled up within a matter of 4 to 5 hours across areas impacted by this intense band of snow. Elsewhere amounts generally varied from a few tenths across northwest Iowa, with anywhere from 1 to 5 inches across southwest Minnesota. To the west across eastern South Dakota snow amounts of 1 to 4 inches were common outside of the banded area where the heavy snow fell on Tuesday. Below is a graph of the snowfall totals with specific amounts further down below the image.
