Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Temperatures across the region were cool the week of August 11-17, 2013. Sioux Falls was one of the harder hit cities, with temperatures averaging 8.1 degrees below normal. Huron missed some of the punch, but even there, the average was 6.0 degrees below normal. The following chart and table help to display just how cool the week crossing the middle of August 2013 panned out. Next week looks like a return to late summer heat, with high temperatures climbing back into the mid 80s to mid 90s.
