Fire Weather Concerns in the Southern Plains and Southeast; Pacific System to Bring Unsettled Weather to the West Coast

Gusty winds and dry conditions will continue to bring elevated to critical fire weather conditions to the southern Plains and Southeast early this week. A Pacific storm system will bring low elevation rain and heavy high elevation mountain snow to northern and central California through early week, expanding into the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and southern California on Tuesday. The tornado first touched down near the intersection of Highway 15 and County Road 8 west of Darrouzett around 7:20 p.m. CDT. The tornado was on the ground for about 0.5 miles with a maximum width of 50 yards. The maximum wind speeds were around 80 mph. The tornado dissipated just south of Highway 15 between County Roads 8 and 9 around 7:22 p.m. CDT. No injuries or fatalities were reported. This is a preliminary report and is subject to revision based on new or additional information.
