These Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts (QPF) are produced by the Hydromet Forecasters (HAS) at the SERFC. The SERFC routinely includes 48 hours of forecast rainfall (QPF) through the year. This QPF is used as input to river forecasts as well as the SERFC and National Significant River Flood Outlooks. However, when creating the daily Significant Flood Outlook Maps, the HAS forecasters and hydrologists at the SERFC use the 5 day forecast issued by the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC), as guidance when making a decision of whether to highlight an area that may receive Significant Flooding. |
