Severe Thunderstorms in the Northern Plains; Heavy Rainfall in the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys; Critical Fire Weather in the Southwest

Severe thunderstorms, with a significant wind threat, will continue through tonight across the northern Plains. Wind gusts of 60 to 100 mph are possible. Heavy rainfall will continue through tonight from Oklahoma into Missouri, and in the Tennessee Valley through Monday. Critical fire weather conditions continue in the Southwest through Tuesday. Another warm and breezy afternoon ahead with a couple isolated storms from Sweetwater to Natrona Counties. The next round of precipitation pushes in overnight into Tuesday with more widely scattered storms and rain showers expected. #WyWx
May Climate summaries for Central and Western Wyoming are now available on our web page. he month of May ranged from 1 to 2 1/2 degrees warmer than normal, as well as drier. There were a few cold fronts that moved through the state bringing snow, rain and cold temperatures. These were followed by warming trends with highs sometimes 10 to 15 degrees above normal. May 6th was the coldest day with several record lows. The 13th was a windy and very hot day. Buffalo set a new all-time record high for May. Casper and Riverton had their earliest 90-degree days on record. #wywx
