A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. Overview
Periods of heavy snowfall occurred across Yellowstone National Park, and the Absaroka Mountains from Thursday night through Saturday morning. At the same time very strong mountain top winds were observed as well as between Rock Springs to Casper. An Arctic cold front pushed south, east of the Divide Friday with bitter cold temperatures in the single digits above and below zero. South of this Arctic front unseasonably warm temperatures were observed Friday with Rock Springs tying a record high of 47 degrees. Another surge of Arctic air on Saturday combining with a disturbance aloft produced a line of moderate to heavy snow east of the Divide with most areas seeing 1 to 3 inches of new snowfall.
