|
March was fairly dry across the Cowboy State with the exception of Casper and Lake Yellowstone, the only locations to exceed normal monthly precipitation. Greybull tied with 2009 for the driest March on record. There were a few daily precipitation and snowfall records broken in March to include Lander on the 1st of the month. Those records go back to 1892. The temperatures were a mix of above and below average temperatures for the month, however the difference from normal was less than 2 degrees everywhere. No location stood our for record breaking temperatures, although there were a few daily records broken. Also of note, Casper had their coldest day on the 1st and warmest day on the 31st. Across the board the coldest day was the 1st or 2nd, with the exception of Lake Yellowstone which dropped to 14 below on the 27th also breaking the daily record. The most popular date for warmest temperature was the 31st, although there were other dates too. Check the CLMs for more specifics on daily records set at the various locations. See the links above for details for individual sites or click here for Water Year Precipitation summaries for more locations.
