Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. The August 2018 climate summaries for Big Piney, Buffalo, Casper, Greybull, Lake Yellowstone, Lander, Riverton, Rock Springs, and Worland are now available online.

August 2018 was a mostly cooler than average month across Wyoming. Only Big Piney and Rock Springs had above average temperatures. The month was also slightly more on the dry side, with only Buffalo, Greybull and Worland having above normal precipitation. There were several daily high temperature records broken, as well as a few new daily lows. Greybull also tied the record for All-Time high temperature for the month of August, reaching 105 degrees on the 12th.  A few new daily precipitation records were also set in August. Under the Observed Weather tab, you can find the Daily Climate Report (CLI), the Preliminary Monthly Climate Data (CF6), the Monthly Weather Summary (CLM), and the Regional Summary (RTP/STP). The Daily Climate Report will have the weather data for the day (from midnight to 1159 pm). The Monthly Climate Data will have this data for each day of the month, compiling all the daily data into one form. The Regional and State Summaries will have temperature and precipitation data for various locations across the state, updated 4 times a day.
