Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. SYNOPSIS:

Snow is still falling over the area this evening and will continue into the night.  Snowfall will taper off through Tuesday morning.

A gusty north wind will occur east of the continental divide along with the snow.  This will create blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility.  Sustained wind speed will be 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. 

 

IMPACTS: Tonight through Tuesday Morning

  • Slick and hazardous roads.
  • Severely reduced visibility at times from snow and blowing snow.
  • Strong wind gusts may create dangerous cross winds. 
  • Sharply colder temperatures in wake of the cold front.

Wyoming April 17th, with some snow lingering into the morning of the
