High-Impact and Far-Reaching Winter Storm Continues; Cold Expands and Persists

A major winter storm will shift its impacts into the Northeast U.S. with heavy snow through tonight while over the Mid-Atlantic, sleet and freezing rain will diminish. Extremely cold air behind the storm will prolong dangerous travel and infrastructure impacts.   Overview

March 26 - Bands of moderate to heavy snow developed over a cold front across central Wyoming Sunday evening.  The heaviest snow fell from the Wind River Basin northeast across Johnson County.  Widespread snowfall of 6-8 inches accumulated in these areas. An observer 27 miles south of Tensleep reported the highest storm total snowfall of 10 inches, Riverton reported 9.2" and both Hudson and Mayoworth came in with 8 inches.

Sunday evening.  South Pass reported 9 inches of snow Monday morning.
