June Weather Review

June of 2024 saw a meandering ridge of high pressure across the Rockies, which brought periods of very warm temperatures, as well as periods of abundant available moisture and heavy rainfall to portions of south central and southeast Colorado. For the month of June as a whole, above normal temperatures were experienced across south central and southeast Colorado, with generally above normal precipitation across south central Colorado and pockets of above normal and well below normal precipitation across southeast Colorado.

The preliminary average temperature in Alamosa for the past month of June was 64.3 degrees. This is 3.7 degrees above normal and makes June of 2024 the 2nd warmest June on record in Alamosa, just behind the 64.5 degree average June temperature in 2012.  The average June maximum temperature in Alamosa was 82.3 degrees, which is 2.1 degrees above normal. The average June minimum temperature in Alamosa was 46.3 degrees, which is 5.4 degrees above normal.  Alamosa recorded 2.00 inches of precipitation through the month of June. This is 1.57 inches above normal and makes June of 2024 the 2nd wettest June on record, just behind the 2.58 inches of precipitation recorded in June of 1969. (POR: 1932-2024)      

The preliminary average temperature in Colorado Springs for the past month of June was 71.5 degrees. This is 4.3 degrees above normal and makes June of 2024 the 2nd warmest June on record in Colorado Springs, just behind the 73.3 degree average June temperature in 2012. The average June maximum temperature in Colorado Springs was 86.7 degrees, which is 5.1 degrees above normal. The average June minimum temperature in Colorado Springs was 56.3 degrees, which is 3.5 degrees above normal.  Colorado Springs recorded 0.71 inches of precipitation through the month of June. This is 1.56 inches below normal and makes June of 2024 the 24th driest June on record in Colorado Springs. This remains well behind the driest June of 1990, when only 0.13 inches of precipitation was recorded in Colorado Springs. (POR: 1894-2024)     

The preliminary average temperature in Pueblo for the past month of June was 76.1 degrees. This is 4.3 degrees above normal and makes June of 2024 the 4th warmest June on record in Pueblo. This remains behind the warmest June of 2012, when the average June temperature was 77.0 degrees. The average June maximum temperature in Pueblo was 93.4 degrees, which is 4.8 degrees above normal. The average June minimum temperature in Pueblo was 58.7 degrees, which is 3.7 degrees above normal. Pueblo recorded 2.11 inches of precipitation through the month of June. This is 0.83 inches above normal. and makes June of 2024 the 22nd wettest June on record in Pueblo, though well behind the wettest June of 1921 when 7.14 inches of precipitation was recorded in Pueblo.  (POR: 1888-2024)  

Looking ahead into July in Alamosa, the average high temperature of 83 degrees on July 1st warms to 84 degrees by July 4th, before cooling back to 82 degrees by the end of the month. The average low temperature of 45 degrees on July 1st warms to 48 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of July in Alamosa is 65.3 degrees.  Alamosa averages 1.04 inches of precipitation through the month of July. On average, July is the warmest and the 2nd wettest month of the year in Alamosa.        

In Colorado Springs, the average high temperature of 86 degrees on July 1st warms to 87 degrees by July 7th, before cooling back to 86 degrees by the end of the month. The average low temperature of 56 degrees on July 1st warms to 59 degrees by the end of the month.  The average temperature for the month of July in Colorado Springs is 72.4 degrees.  Colorado Springs averages 3.12 inches of precipitation through the month of July. On average, July is the warmest and wettest month of the year in Colorado Springs.        

In Pueblo, the average high temperature of 93 degrees on July 1st warms to 94 degrees by July 6th, before cooling back to 93 degrees by the end of the month. The average low temperature of 59 degrees on July 1st warms to 62 degrees by the end of the month. The average temperature for the month of July in Pueblo is 77.2 degrees.  Pueblo averages 1.89 inches of precipitation through the month of July. On average, July is the warmest and the 2nd wettest month of the year in Pueblo.
