Snow in the Intermountain West; Critical Fire Weather Conditions in the Central U.S.

A Pacific Storm will bring colder temperatures and widespread mountain snow to much of the Intermountain West through the end of the week. SUBJECT: Change to Moderate and Major Flood Stages for ADLC2, Arkansas River near Avondale.

Recent flood assessments and coordination with local emergency management have concluded raising Moderate Flood Stage from 8.0 to 10.0 feet and Major Flood Stage from 9.0 to 12.0 feet will provide better representation and communication of impacts associated with Minor, Moderate, and Major flooding along the Arkansas River in the vicinity of Avondale, CO. This change will be effective March 4, 2024. River observations and forecasts for the Arkansas River near Avondale (ADLC2) can be found on the NWS Pueblo AHPS web site and, effective March 27, 2024, on the NWPS web site.
