Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. There is a low chance of snow Monday night into Tuesday morning but there will be a better chance for accumulating snow Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night with at least a few inches of snow possible. Much colder temperatures are possible Thursday night into Friday morning, with the active pattern likely continuing into next weekend.
We continue to monitor the potential for a wintry pattern to bring several chances for snow later this week. While specific details on timing, location, and impacts remain somewhat uncertain, there is a growing signal for impactful snow to occur with a storm system during the Wednesday into early Thursday timeframe.
