Severe Thunderstorms in the Northern Plains; Heavy Rainfall in the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys; Critical Fire Weather in the Southwest

Severe thunderstorms, with a significant wind threat, will continue through tonight across the northern Plains. Wind gusts of 60 to 100 mph are possible. Heavy rainfall will continue through tonight from Oklahoma into Missouri, and in the Tennessee Valley through Monday. Critical fire weather conditions continue in the Southwest through Tuesday. Today will be another day of slow moving showers and thunderstorms, this time affecting most of if not the entire area into the evening. The tropics-like humidity today will be conducive to soaking to locally torrential downpours, which may cause localized flash flooding. Use caution when driving in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded areas.
The very warm, humid and, at times stormy, pattern will continue through Thursday. There’s a localized flooding threat today and then Tuesday night through Thursday, some of the storms may be strong to severe, especially Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
After a wet Monday, Tuesday through Thursday will be hot and humid. The pattern will also be favorable for several rounds of severe thunderstorms in the general region.
