At Chicago, the average high temperature was 77.5 degrees, which is 2.7 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 60.4 degrees, which is 6.1 degrees above normal. The average temperature for the month was 69.0 degrees which is 4.4 degrees above normal. During the month of September, 3.65 inches of precipitation were recorded, which is 0.44 of an inch above normal. One record was set for Chicago for the month of September 2018: * Record daily warmest maximum temperature of 93 degrees on the 20th. No Top Ten Monthly Records. At Rockford, the average high temperature was 77.1 degrees, which is 1.7 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 55.9 degrees, which is 3.5 degrees above normal. The average temperature for the month was 66.5 degrees, which is 2.6 degrees above normal.
