Join us in New Lenox for the annual Health and Safety Expo and Severe Weather Preparedness Training!

The annual New Lenox Health and Safety Expo, Touch-a-Truck, and Severe Weather Preparedness Training is coming up on Wednesday April 2, 2025 at Lincoln-Way West High School! The Health and Safety Expo and Touch-a-Truck will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM CDT where you can talk with approximately 50 organizations from the health, safety, fitness, preparedness, and emergency response sectors and see some of the neat vehicles these organizations use to do their jobs. Following the Health and Safety Expo at 7 PM CDT, meteorologists from NWS Chicago will be giving Severe Weather Preparedness Training where we will cover a wide array of topics relevant to the types of hazardous weather that occurs during the spring and summer months. These topics include thunderstorms, heat waves, and beach safety. This training is designed for anyone and everyone interested in weather, how to stay safe and get forecast information, and how to contribute to your community.

Content in the severe weather preparedness training is suitable for anyone age 10 and older, and will be taught in-person by an NWS Chicago meteorologist.

The training will last approximately 2 hours and is free and open to the public.

Please visit www.weather.gov/lot/spotter_talk for additional details.
