Water holds immense value. People use water in myriad different ways including drinking, agriculture, industry, recreation, hygiene, sanitation, and health care. As meteorologists, we at the National Weather Service deal in water every day. From forecasting clouds and humidity in the atmosphere...to the rain, hail, and snow that falls...to the water in our soil and streams, water plays a vital role in all our lives every day.

A great way to contribute to our understanding of how water affects our world is to join the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS). All you need to do is acquire an inexpensive plastic rain gauge and report your rainfall amount each morning (and snow if possible).
