Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. A Flood Watch remains in effect. In the northern U.S., a storm will bring heavy snow and gusty winds over parts of the northern Rockies, northern Plains, and Upper Midwest Monday into Wednesday. A weather disturbance will move through the region on Saturday. The initial precipitation will start out as light snow. However, warmer air will infiltrate the region and will change the snow over to plain rain. A minor accumulation of snow may occur over southern Indiana. Some brief travel impacts will be possible in southern Indiana Saturday afternoon.
A round of wintry weather is expected Monday night and into the day on Tuesday. The track and evolution of this storm remains very uncertain, but a wintry mix is expected across much of Kentucky with snow further north across southern Indiana. The forecast will likely change over the next few days, so keep abreast of the latest forecasts.
