Areas of Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall Today

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and some hail are expected this afternoon and evening from the Upper Ohio River Valley into the Northeast, and from the Appalachians into the Mid-Atlantic States. Mike Callahan spent the day on the 12th at New Castle Elementary School talking about thunderstorms and severe weather safety. Even though it is just one week before Christmas vacation, the children were attentive and asked many good questions. Here is a photo showing Mike during the talk:

Mike talked to the entire third, fourth, and fifth grade classes, about 200 kids in three sessions. Below is a third grade class taking an opportunity to pose for the camera.
