High-Impact and Far-Reaching Winter Storm Continues; Cold Expands and Persists

A major winter storm will shift its impacts into the Northeast U.S. with heavy snow through tonight while over the Mid-Atlantic, sleet and freezing rain will diminish. Extremely cold air behind the storm will prolong dangerous travel and infrastructure impacts. Mike Callahan spent the day on the 12th at New Castle Elementary School talking about thunderstorms and severe weather safety. Even though it is just one week before Christmas vacation, the children were attentive and asked many good questions. Here is a photo showing Mike during the talk:

Mike talked to the entire third, fourth, and fifth grade classes, about 200 kids in three sessions. Below is a third grade class taking an opportunity to pose for the camera.
