High-Impact and Far-Reaching Winter Storm Continues; Cold Expands and Persists

A major winter storm will shift its impacts into the Northeast U.S. with heavy snow through tonight while over the Mid-Atlantic, sleet and freezing rain will diminish. Extremely cold air behind the storm will prolong dangerous travel and infrastructure impacts. Summer heat persisted with just about everyone in southern Indiana and central Kentucky getting on board the 90 train. Several locations in north central Kentucky reached the mid 90s, with new records for the date being established in Louisville, Lexington, and Frankfort. Unseasonable heat is expected to continue well into next week.
