Lake-effect Snow and Whiteout Conditions in the Great Lakes Region; Below-average Temperatures in the East

Heavy lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes and produce some whiteout conditions that could cause difficult travel conditions. A coastal low will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of southern and eastern New England into the afternoon. There will be a total solar eclipse down visible from South America.  Totality will run from 4:38 to 4:44 PM EDT.  GOES-16 once again will be viewing this eclipse, and should look similar to the loop below we saved from the 2017 eclipse that ran across the U.S. August 21, 2017.
