Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Confidence is high in a rainy Halloween across southern Indiana and at least north central Kentucky. Rain is expected to continue as waves of deep moisture from the Gulf of America ride along a stalled frontal boundary across our region. Rain is expected to be steady and widespread by evening; however, the heaviest rain is expected at times Wednesday night through Thursday. 2 to 4 inches of rain are forecast across southern Indiana and northern Kentucky, with 1 to 2" generally forecast across the rest of southern Kentucky through late Thursday.

 

 

A Flood Watch is in effect across southern Indiana, western Kentucky, and northern Kentucky through  late Thursday night.

 

 

The Weather Prediction Center has put a good portion of our region in a Slight Risk for Excessive Rainfall. In addition, some area rivers may begin to experience minor flood concerns.
