Lingering Winter Weather in Interior New England; Snow Squalls Developing Downwind of the Lower Great Lakes

A wintry mix will continue in interior New England through tonight as a coastal storm quickly passes to the east. Heavy snow is expected in northern Maine, with a coating of ice expected for much of interior New England. The Western Kentucky University Meteorology Program hosted NWS Louisville and NWS Nashville for a Professional Development Series on Wednesday evening (Oct 23). Meteorologists John Gordon, Evan Webb, and Samantha Carr from NWS Louisville presented various topics to students, including applications of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in operational meteorology, and perspective on what a new meteorologist's first year in the National Weather Service is like. In addition, John Gordon gave an eye opening presentation about what it takes to get into the NWS. Students also were given advice on how best to construct their resumes.
